Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of househousesystems.com, its subdomains (including client portals, proposal pages, and hosted applications), and any content, tools, or services made available through them (together, the “Site”). The Site is operated by Househouse Systems (“Househouse Systems,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a business operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME, e.g. Househouse Architects Inc. / Househouse Systems Inc.] in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. Who we are
Househouse Systems builds custom operational tools, databases, integrations, and AI workflows for architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firms. The Site describes those services, publishes articles and comparison guides, and hosts client-facing applications for firms we work with.
2. Scope of these Terms
These Terms cover the public website and any hosted application you access without a signed agreement.
If your firm has signed a consulting agreement, statement of work, proposal, or subscription agreement with Househouse Systems (a “Client Agreement”), that Client Agreement governs the services and deliverables, and takes precedence over these Terms wherever the two conflict. These Terms still apply to your use of the Site itself.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract to use the Site. If you use the Site on behalf of a company or firm, you confirm you are authorized to bind that organization to these Terms.
4. Accounts and client portals
Some parts of the Site — client portals, proposal pages, hosted apps on our subdomains — require login credentials or a private link.
You are responsible for keeping your credentials and private links confidential and for all activity under your account.
Do not share access with anyone outside your organization unless your Client Agreement permits it.
Notify us immediately at [PRIVACY/SUPPORT EMAIL] if you suspect unauthorized access.
We may suspend or disable access if we believe an account is compromised, misused, or in breach of these Terms or a Client Agreement.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in breach of any applicable law;
attempt to access accounts, data, systems, or networks you are not authorized to access;
probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Site or circumvent any security or authentication measure;
scrape, crawl, or harvest content or data from the Site by automated means without our written permission (standard search-engine indexing of public pages is fine);
introduce malware, malicious code, or anything designed to disrupt the Site;
reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from any hosted application, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits;
use the Site or any output from it to build a competing product or service;
upload content that infringes someone else’s rights, is defamatory, or is otherwise unlawful;
misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
See our Acceptable Use Policy for the full set of rules that apply to hosted applications.
6. Intellectual property
Our content. The Site and everything on it — text, articles, comparison guides, graphics, logos, page designs, code, databases, templates, workflow designs, and hosted applications — are owned by Househouse Systems or its licensors and protected by Canadian and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. “Househouse Systems,” “Househouse,” and the associated logos are our trademarks. You may not use them without written permission.
Limited licence. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to view the public Site for your own informational purposes. You may share links to our public articles. You may not republish, copy, modify, distribute, or commercially exploit Site content without our written consent.
Your content. If you upload or submit material to a hosted application (project data, files, images, notes), you keep ownership of it. You grant us the licence needed to host, process, display, and back it up so we can provide the service, and you confirm you have the right to share it with us. Ownership of project deliverables, custom builds, and data created under a Client Agreement is governed by that agreement.
Third-party platforms. Many of our tools are built on third-party platforms (for example Airtable, Teable, Google Workspace, Netlify, Cloudflare, Supabase, and AI model providers). Those platforms’ content and software remain theirs, and your use of any hosted application that relies on them is also subject to their terms. See Section 10.
Feedback. If you send us ideas, suggestions, or feedback about the Site or our services, we may use them without any obligation to you.
7. Articles, guides, and comparison content
Content on the Site — including software comparisons, pricing references, how-to articles, and opinions about tools and platforms — is provided for general information only. It reflects our understanding at the time of writing and may become out of date. Third-party product names, features, and prices are described based on publicly available information and may change without notice. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the companies whose products we compare unless we say so.
Nothing on the Site is architectural, engineering, legal, financial, code-compliance, or professional advice. Do not rely on it as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your specific situation. See our Disclaimer.
8. AI-generated content and outputs
Some hosted applications and workflows use artificial intelligence (large language models, image generation, 3D asset generation, and similar). AI outputs can be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or unsuitable for your purpose.
You are responsible for reviewing, verifying, and deciding whether to use any AI-generated output.
AI outputs are not professional advice and must not be used in place of a licensed professional’s judgment, stamped drawings, or code review.
Do not submit confidential, personal, or sensitive information to AI features unless your Client Agreement covers that use.
Ownership and permitted use of AI outputs may also depend on the terms of the underlying model provider.
9. Availability, changes, and support
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time, including hosted applications, without liability to you (subject to any Client Agreement). We try to keep the Site available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Scheduled maintenance, third-party platform outages, and factors outside our control may affect availability. Support commitments, if any, are set out in your Client Agreement.
10. Third-party services and links
The Site links to and depends on third-party websites and services. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability, security, or privacy practices. Your use of any third-party service is subject to that provider’s terms and policies. Links are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information. By using the Site you acknowledge that policy.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Site and all content, tools, and hosted applications are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be accurate, complete, secure, uninterrupted, or free of errors or harmful components, or that defects will be corrected.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Househouse Systems, its principals, employees, contractors, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Site, however caused and under any theory of liability, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Site under these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) CAD $100 and (b) the amount you paid us for access to the Site (not services under a Client Agreement) in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including for fraud or wilful misconduct.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Househouse Systems and its principals, employees, contractors, and affiliates from any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Site, your content, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
15. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have breached these Terms or if we discontinue the Site. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law) will survive.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Toronto, Ontario, for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site, and you waive any objection to venue there.
Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us and make a good-faith effort to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change, and material changes will be posted on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
18. General
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, and Disclaimer, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Site (subject to any Client Agreement).
Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Language. These Terms are drafted in English. Any translation is for convenience only.
No agency. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, employment, or agency relationship.
